Currently, tenant fees vary considerably between letting agents but typically tenants are charged
for professional services such as administration, references, changing contract, inventory checking,
contract renewals and chasing of late payments. All of these services are essential to protecting a
landlord’s property and to managing the tenancy in a legally compliant way, so removing the ability to
pass some of this cost onto the tenant means that ultimately landlords may be forced to foot the bill.
While the COP26 event in the UK has concluded, it is unlikely that the focus on environmental matters is going to go away anytime soon.
