There has been a lot of change in and around Peterborough of late, but the demolition of the City Market is a clear sign of the movement in the city. Of significant interest to many people will be the promise of 315 new apartments for the city.

There is significant demand for property in and around Peterborough, so this will be a welcome addition to the local area. While there will be people who are unhappy at the movement of the former market, there is a lot to be said for progress. We can only hope that the new-look market is better for stallholders and the public in general.

Of course, the addition of more than 300 apartments is of greater interest in the local lettings market. Some landlords will have a chance to expand their Peterborough property portfolio. This is a convenient location, which is always a fundamental feature of desirable rental property.

Given the other developments in and around the local area, there is excitement about Peterborough, perhaps more than there has been for some time.

If you are interested in the local rental market or want to stay up to date with what is happening locally, we can assist you. At Just Lets Peterborough, we are lettings market specialists. We assist landlords and property investors in making informed decisions that help themselves and their tenants.

Change is coming

We think there are many positive things happening in Peterborough, which will only create greater demand for good quality property. To capitalise on this opportunity, rely on a local agent who knows the area inside out.

At the end of April, a Peterborough Investment Partnership spokesperson said about the demolition work and removal of trees: “The contractors on site are continuing with pre-commencement work. Sectional demolition has started on the market and will continue over the coming weeks. Hoardings will replace the current temporary fencing after the Bank Holiday weekend to ensure the site is secure. The Food Hall remains open.”

The new market is set to open in Bridge Street in June, and a spokesperson for the council spoke about the new market, saying it will be; “refreshed, revitalised and moved to a heavy footfall area of the city to ensure its future success.”
